Creative writing is a place of personal expression and enjoyment for me. Something I do for fun, not for work. I am a typical Virgo in that I like the detailed, the miniature and the precise and so am drawn to poetry and to short fiction as creative forms which appeal to me. I like the way in which, in both forms, every word has to count. For me no poem and no short story is finished until there is not one word left that can either be added or taken away.

Poems and short stories should be like little gems - small, bright and self-contained. Something you can pop in your mental pocket and carry around to bring richness and mystery to your life.

I am inspired both by the experience of old age and the process of ageing itself and this is reflected in my short-fiction pieces.

Poems often form in my mind at times when I feel most deeply about something. Quite predictably most of them are about men! Women's issues come a close second and some of my work reflects a love of all things natural,mystical and mythical.
